Propaganda
Propaganda was a key factor on all sides for the government to inform their citizens and carry out the war. The influence that propaganda had on people made it easier to justify the killing, violence, and hate involved in wars. Propaganda made it so people had nationalistic pride for their country while at the same time, hating the other. (Propaganda). Most propaganda was racist, showing the enemy as “barbaric” uncivilized people. These made the enemy seem less than human, which made them easier to hate and to see as foreign and “other.” Fear, pride and intimidation is used by propaganda to spread the war spirit, while at the same time the government convinces their people that the enemy is at fault. Media plays a big role in propaganda newspapers, books, posters, radio, film to spread the idea of an evil enemy. Both countries had propaganda to fuel the war. (Propaganda). The Japanese war slogan-”Eight corners of the world under one roof.”-Isoroku Yamamoto was expressing the desire for Japan to place all of Asia under one regime and government (Propaganda). The U.S. war slogan- ”Hostilities exist. There is no blinking at the fact that our people, our territory, and our interests are in grave danger. -FDR" spread the idea that the US can no longer be isolated and was under extreme danger (Propaganda).
